Jiu jitsu is a very close-contact activity. If good hygiene standards are not maintained, we run the risk of spreading skin infections and other illnesses around the gym, as well as becoming the partner no one wants to train with.
- Please do not attend class if you have a cold as this can easily spread to your training partners.
- If you have any skin infection, such as ringworm or staph, please do not train until it is resolved.
- Come to class clean and with a clean gi. You will be in very close contact with your training partners during the class, and there is nothing worse than having to train with someone who is dirty and smells bad.
- Make sure you trim your finger and toenails regularly. Long or sharp nails can cut your training partner, or can get hung up and torn during gi grips.
